Training & Opportunities

What trainees gain: The J-1 Trainee Program at Sungshim Dental is designed to provide participants with educational and cultural exposure to the U.S. dental system and the broader dental industry rather than focusing on routine employment or independent clinical work. Trainees will learn about the structure and operation of dental practices in the United States, including patient communication, appointment and workflow management, dental insurance and billing processes, infection-control standards, regulatory considerations, and the roles of different dental professionals. Through observation, structured training, mentorship, and professional discussions, trainees will also gain exposure to dental technologies, equipment, materials, laboratory processes, and trends within the U.S. dental industry. The program will encourage trainees to compare dental systems and professional practices between the United States and their home countries, helping them develop a broader international perspective on dentistry. The overall goal is to provide trainees with practical knowledge of the U.S. dental environment, cross-cultural professional experience, and a deeper understanding of the global dental industry that they can apply to their future careers.

What we do: Sungshim Dental is a dental practice dedicated to providing comprehensive and patient-centered oral healthcare. Our services include preventive, restorative, and general dental care, with a strong emphasis on patient education, quality treatment, and long-term oral health. The practice also provides an opportunity to observe and understand the operations, patient service standards, and professional environment of a dental practice in the United States.

Open training areas: Dental Assistant Trainee – Training focused on U.S. dental office operations, clinical workflow, patient communication, infection-control protocols, dental equipment and materials, and the roles and responsibilities of dental professionals. Dental Laboratory Assistant Trainee – Training focused on dental laboratory workflows, dental materials, impressions and models, communication between dental offices and laboratories, digital dentistry, and exposure to dental prosthetics and related technologies.
